Questions people ask
Honest answers to the questions that come up most. If yours is not here, we would be glad to help.
What exactly does Pumping Along do?
We provide education and support to help you understand and access insulin pump therapy. We explain how the process works, help you prepare for appointments and access steps, and offer workshops so you feel confident. We are not a medical provider.
Do you give medical advice?
No. Everything we share is general education. Medical decisions, prescriptions, and clinical training come from your own doctor, endocrinologist, or diabetes care team. We help you get ready for those conversations and make them easier.
Who is it for?
Anyone living with diabetes who is curious about insulin pump therapy, and the people who care for them. Whether you are looking into it for yourself or supporting a family member, you are welcome, wherever you are on the journey.
Do I need to have chosen a pump before I come?
Not at all. Many people come precisely because they have not decided yet. We help you understand the options so you can weigh them with your care team.
Will you tell me which pump to get?
We stay neutral and do not endorse any brand. We explain how the device types differ and what to consider, then you decide with your clinician and your funding in mind.
Can you help with access and funding?
We can help you understand the access process in plain language: what approvals and paperwork usually involve, and what to ask for. How coverage works varies by country and insurer, so we cannot guarantee any funding outcome, but we can help you feel prepared.
Are the workshops free or paid?
Workshops are paid. We keep the format flexible and arrange the details, including payment, with you directly. Reach out and we will talk through what suits you.
Are sessions online or in person?
Both are possible. Sessions can be one to one or in a small group, live or online, and paced to what you need. We shape it around your situation.
Do you work with people outside the United States?
Yes. Pumping Along is based in the United States and works with people internationally. Because access and funding differ from country to country, we focus on the general path and help you prepare for how it works where you are.
I feel overwhelmed by all of this. Is this for me?
Yes, and we are sorry you are in a hard moment. You do not need any background knowledge to start. We move at a human pace and there is no such thing as a silly question here.
How do I get started?
Head to our contact page and tell us a little about your situation. We will point you to the workshop or next step that fits.
